Tips for ATV Jumps and Turns

Some ATV drivers can make the toughest tricks with controlling an ATV with ease. However, some techniques need to be used for successfully pulling these off. ATV jumps and turns can be dangerous if they are not performed correctly. Here are some tips to use for these tricks.

First, here's a look at what to do for jumps. The main factors of the jump that an ATV makes are the length of the jump and the steepness of the jump. On the first pass of a typical jump it is best to get to the ending of the ramp with as much speed as preferred so that some lift can be produced if the vehicle is steady during the entire process. This is needed because being conservative at first on a particular jump is needed for one's own safety.

When reaching the end of that ramp it is best to let off the gas for a bit but then give it as much gas as possible. This works in that it will help to get the ATV to help with getting more power to the vehicle right before it leaves the ground and it also gets the front end of the vehicle to move upwards in the air. This works so that the back tires will land of the ground first. It is better to land rear first so that the ATV does not topple easily. After this first jump it will be easier to be controlling an ATV over a particular jump in that the driver will be able to make better judgments on the power needed for clearing a jump.

The next of the tips for controlling an ATV is with turns. First, a corner should be entered wide and quickly without slowing down. As the ATV gets to a point in a corner where the vehicle can be turned in the right direction the wheels should be turned in that direction, the front brake should be pressed and the throttle should be opened. The rear tires will lose traction and the back end will spin. When the vehicle is turned around the brake will be released and the gas will be used.

When a skid is in place the wheels should be turned into the direction of the skid. The vehicle will then turn quickly in the right direction. Having the back wheels lose traction is needed for controlling an ATV here. Leaning forwards helps here because that puts more weight on the front wheels. Not having the power on hand can make it dangerous, but using the front brakes and getting the back wheels to be loose can help.

These are useful tips for ATV jumps and turns to use. It helps to use caution for controlling an ATV. Some jumps and turns may look simple, but by using these tips they can be handled with ease because not all moves are going to be easy.
